On the Castit digital signage platform, everything revolves around two core elements: Screens and Players. A Screen is where you manage your content, scheduling, and settings, while a Player is the software that runs on the physical device and displays the content you prepared. When these two components work together, your digital signage comes alive, which is why the pairing process is one of the most important steps in Castit. Below, you’ll see exactly how it works and why the new system is clearer and easier than ever.
How the Pairing Process Works
Pairing a Screen with a Player is what allows the content from your Castit CMS to appear on a physical device. The entire process takes only a few minutes and is designed to be simple for beginners while still efficient for advanced users. In essence, you first prepare a Screen in Castit, then install the Castit Player app on your device and connect it using a short pairing code.
1. Creating a Screen in Castit CMS
The first step is creating a Screen. After logging into the Castit CMS, navigate to Screens in the left-hand menu. A new view opens, where you’ll see the Create Screen button in the top-right corner. Click it, name your Screen, add a tag to help you organize your devices or locations, and confirm by clicking Create Screen again.

Once created, the Screen view opens with several tabs:
- Screen Contents – your main content management area
- Players – where all connected devices appear
- Settings & Info – additional configuration details
- Availability – display operating hours
- Schedule – planned content variations throughout the day or week
You’ll primarily work inside Screen Contents, where all the content shown on your displays is created and managed. On the right-hand side, you’ll find Playlists, Library, Apps, and Slides. Each section offers a different way to prepare content: you can build playlists, upload images and videos, activate built-in apps (weather, time, social feeds, etc.), or design custom slides using the built-in Slide Creator. Elements can be added simply by dragging them or clicking the “+” button.

2. Opening the “Players” Tab and Preparing for Pairing
After preparing your Screen, switch to the Players tab, which lists all devices paired to this Screen. Here, you’ll find two ways to begin pairing: the Pair Player button in the top-right corner, or the same button in the center of the page if no devices are connected yet.
Before you pair anything, you must install the Castit Player app on the device you want to use as your digital signage screen. The app is available on multiple platforms: Android, web browsers, Samsung/LG signage systems, and Windows, and the setup process is similar on all of them.

For Windows devices, the steps look like this: After downloading the Player, open the ZIP folder and run the start-player file. Choose Extract All, wait for the extraction to complete, then click Run. Windows may request that you install .NET Framework 3.5 - simply install it and wait for the setup to finish.
Once the Castit Player launches on your device, you’ll see a screen with a 5-digit pairing code and a QR code. You’ll also see a short set of instructions and a link back to Castit.
3. Pairing the Player with the Screen
With your pairing code ready, return to Castit and click Pair Player. A window opens where you first name your device (use a clear, recognizable name), then enter the 5-digit code shown on the device. Confirm by clicking Pair Player. The device will immediately appear in your Player list for that Screen.

From this moment, the Player becomes online and begins displaying everything currently inside your Screen Contents tab. Any changes you make afterward, adding a new playlist, updating a slide, activating an app, or changing a schedule, will automatically update on all paired devices, without any manual refresh or restart.
4. Greater Flexibility With the New Castit Structure
One of the biggest improvements in the updated Castit CMS is the ability to fully prepare a Screen and its content in advance, even before you have the physical devices on-site. You can build playlists, design slides, organize the library, and set up schedules at any time, and simply add Players later when the hardware arrives or installation is ready.
Previously, this was not possible because pairing had to happen first. The new structure makes planning significantly easier, especially for large rollouts, franchises, multi-location networks, or growing installations.
What You Should Know About Players
Although pairing is simple, there are a few important rules to keep in mind:
- Every physical device requires its own Player, as billing is per device.
- A single Screen can have an unlimited number of Players attached.
- All Players connected to the same Screen display identical content.
- The Players tab always shows which devices are online and which are not (e.g., 3/5 online).
And a bonus for new users: your first Player is free, making it easy to test the system and launch your first screen without any cost.
Pairing Has Never Been Easier
The updated Castit CMS introduces a clearer structure between Screens and Players and a far more intuitive pairing process. Everything you need is now organized in one place, the steps are logical, and the ability to prepare content ahead of time simplifies the workflow for both beginners and experienced users.
In short: Create a Screen → Add a Player → Enter the code → Your content goes live. Fast, reliable, and hassle-free.
