Digital signage should be simple, especially when managing multiple displays, Players, and content sources. That’s why Castit now introduces an important improvement to the CMS: the Screen Groups feature is now retired. Instead, we are introducing a clearer and more intuitive concept: one Screen can now be connected to one or multiple Player devices.
This update will be available to all users starting Monday, December 1st, 2025. Our goal is to make Castit faster, simpler, and easier to understand, especially when managing multiple displays and devices.
Why are we changing the terminology?
The term Screen Groups often created confusion:
- Are these physical screens or logical groups?
- Do multiple displays have to belong to one group?
- How does a group relate to individual Player devices?
In practice, users were already working with a simple concept: one Screen = one content setup that can be shown on one or more physical displays. Because of that, we are removing Screen Groups and keeping only Screens, which can be assigned to multiple Player devices. Additionally, Castit now includes a dedicated Players tab, where you can see all devices, pairing statuses, and active licenses.
Previously: Screen Groups
The previous structure worked technically, but the naming wasn’t intuitive.
Example setup:
Screen Group: Lobby
– Player A
– Player B
Screen Group: Entrance
– Player C
The challenge: Users weren’t really “creating groups”, but they were creating content layouts assigned to one or more displays.
Now: Screens

The new structure is simpler and aligned with real usage.
→ “Screens” represent the place where you manage content
On a Screen, you can:
- organize playlists, slides, apps, and videos
- set schedules
- define display times
- link Player devices
- control everything from one central place
→ Player devices show the content assigned to that Screen
One Screen can have multiple Player devices, allowing the same content to run across several displays at once.
What’s changing inside the CMS?
- “Screen Groups” are removed
- Added: Screens
- Navigation and UI labels now follow this logic
- The workflow is significantly simplified
The new flow looks like this:
Create Screen → Add Player → Pair device → Display content
No extra levels. No unclear naming.
Benefits of the new structure
- More intuitive for all users: It’s now instantly clear what a Screen is and what a Player does.
- Easier for beginners: No intermediate grouping layers to figure out.
- Better organization for large deployments: Whether you have 10, 50, or 200 displays - the structure remains clean and scalable.
- Faster content management: Fewer steps, fewer clicks, clearer workflow.
- Reflects real-world digital signage logic: Screen = content setup → Player = physical device
Another important improvement is that you can now create a Screen, prepare all content in advance, and then pair as many Players as you want, something that wasn’t possible before, since pairing had to be done first.
Quick Guide: How the workflow looks now
1. Create a Screen
- name it
- add playlists, slides, apps, or videos
2. Add a Player device
- go to the Players tab
- click Add Player
- receive a pairing code
3. Pair the device
- install Castit Player
- enter the code
- the Screen’s content appears instantly
4. Manage everything in real time
- update content
- change schedules
- monitor Player status (online/offline)
