Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Castit

Learn how to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Castit and strengthen your account security with an additional verification step during login. This guide explains the setup process step by step.

Updates and releases 2 months ago

Castit now supports Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to add an extra layer of protection to your account. With 2FA enabled, logging in requires both your password and a temporary 6-digit code generated by an authentication app on your phone. Even if someone knows your password, they cannot access your account without that second code.

Before You Start

To complete the setup, you need to install an authentication app on your mobile device

Examples include:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Authy
  • Any compatible authenticator app

These apps generate time-based 6-digit codes that refresh every few seconds.

How to Enable 2FA

1. Log In to Your Account

Go to: https://app.castit.nl/

Sign in with your usual credentials.

2. Open the Two-Factor Authentication Section

From the left menu:

  • Click Settings
  • Open the Profile tab

Under your personal information and password, you will see Two-Factor Authentication. By default, the status is Disabled.

  • Click Set up 2FA to begin.

A pop-up window will appear with the setup instructions.

3. Connect Your Authentication App

In the pop-up, you will see:

  • A QR code
  • A manual entry key (for cases where scanning does not work)

Open your authentication app. You will usually have two options: scan a QR code or enter a key manually.

Scan the QR code shown on the screen. If scanning fails, enter the manual key instead.

Once connected, the app will immediately generate a 6-digit code.

Keep in mind that this code has a time limit and changes every few seconds.

4. Enter the Code, Activate, and Confirm

Return to the Castit setup window and enter the 6-digit code generated by your authentication app. Then click Activate to complete the setup.

Once activated, you can immediately confirm that 2FA is enabled. The status will now show Enabled, and the button that previously said “Set up 2FA” will change to Disable 2FA.

This confirms that Two-Factor Authentication is successfully active on your account.

What Happens at Your Next Login?

After logging out, the next time you log in:

  • Enter your email and password as usual.
  • A new window will appear asking for the authentication code.
  • Open your authentication app.
  • Enter the current 6-digit code.
  • Click Verify to access your account.

Why Enable 2FA?

Two-Factor Authentication makes your Castit account safer by adding one more step when you log in. Besides your password, you will enter a temporary 6-digit code from your authentication app. This makes it much more difficult for anyone else to access your account.

Benefits of enabling 2FA

  • Keeps your account protected, even if someone knows your password
  • Prevents unauthorized access to your screens and content
  • Adds stronger login security without making the process complicated
  • Requires only a quick and simple setup

Activating 2FA takes just a few minutes and gives your Castit account stronger protection. If you need help with the setup, you can contact Castit support at support@castit.nl.
