Creating content for your digital signage screens should be straightforward: it should have enough features, but not become unnecessarily complex. We've spent the past months completely rebuilding Castit's Slide Creator, with user experience first: making it easier for you to create professional-looking slides without the hassle. Let's walk through what's new and how these changes make content creation easier. 

Template library

The first part of our new slide creator is the template library. We have created some standard templates for you, useful for various situations, across different industries. New templates are added to the CMS every month, enabling you to grow with the seasons, respond to new trends, and overall keep your screens dynamic and engaging. Choose a template you like, and get started on adapting it to your corporate identity and filling it with your own information.

Edit the template

After you’ve chosen the template, it is time to make it your own. We spent a lot of time investigating what functionalities are essential to creating appealing content and editing templates. Think of:

• Adjusting colour codes to your corporate identity

• Choosing font families, sizes and weights

• Adding (coloured) borders and shadows

• Replacing images, automatically applying the right ratio and position to your new image

• Cropping and positioning images (use as a background image or bring forward)

• …and many more other basic functionalities that are essential for creating compelling slides

Edit the template as a whole by clicking “Edit template”. Once you’ve adjusted the template to your corporate identity, you can save it and it will be stored in the template library as is.

Create your own template

If you can’t find a template that suits a particular situation, or you want to test your own design skills, you can also start from scratch and design your own template. Our slide creator is feature-rich, and building your own slide from scratch could look something like this.

1. Go to “Your templates” and click “New template” in the upper right corner

2. Choose a canvas background colour or leave it black

3. Add text blocks and choose the type, font and size

4. Add your own images by choosing from your library or uploading directly. Don’t have a suitable image? Look through our stock photos and giphy’s! 

5. Make a fun design by adding shapes - apart from basic shapes, we now have thousands of icons! 

6. Generate a QR-code based on a URL, text, e-mail address or phone number to trigger immediate action from your audience (visit this website, read more, reach out, etc.).

7. Add a ticker tape for showing live information from your preferred source. 

8. Manage all elements of your slide within the “Objects” tab, select the object and make sure all is set up right.

9. Make your slide sleek by

   1. Aligning

   2. Positioning

   3. Spacing

10. And voila! Your slide could look like something below. 

11. Click save in the upper right corner and give your slide a name!

Create your slides

When you want to make a slide for a playlist that will eventually show on your screen, you have multiple options: 

1. Select one of our pre-made templates under “Castit templates”, and click “Use template”. Adjust it accordingly or use as it is.

2. Select one of your own templates under “Your templates”. Adjust it accordingly or use as it is.

3. Start from scratch by going to “Your designs” and clicking “New design”. If you’re impressed by your own design skills, you can also save these new slides as a template.

We have given you a headstart by walking you through our new slide creator and naming some important features, but you’ll only find out the benefits by experiencing it yourself. Everyone has their own content creation ways, and maybe you’ll find ways of using it more efficiently than we do!
